SongHere Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: August 25, 2026
01Overview
SongHere is a private music-identification and memory-map app that requires no SongHere account. The current version uses no developer-operated server, advertising SDK, or third-party analytics SDK. We do not sell personal data or track users across apps or websites.
02Information processed by SongHere
When you use the relevant features, SongHere processes on your device:
- Music match results such as song, artist, album, and related Apple Music identifiers;
- Identification time;
- Locations you authorize or choose, potentially including precise coordinates, place names, and cities;
- Favorites, moods, notes, photos, and short videos of up to 10 seconds that you add;
- Local search history, playback choices, and app settings;
- Internal records needed for safe deletion merging and sync across devices.
This information provides the library, map, search, playback, and device-sync features.
03Microphone, identification, and live video sound
SongHere uses the microphone only during an identification session you start. That audio creates a match through Apple's ShazamKit service. SongHere does not save identification audio as a recording or upload it to a developer-operated server. Microphone use stops when identification finishes, is canceled, or the app enters the background.
When you actively record a short video, the system camera may also use the microphone to capture live sound. You can choose to keep or remove it. If you remove it, the file saved by SongHere no longer contains a live-audio track.
04Location
Location is optional. SongHere can request When In Use location after a successful identification, and you can later add, edit, or remove a place manually. Declining location does not block music identification.
Share cards show only the city by default. A place name or coordinates are included only when you explicitly choose a more precise sharing level.
05Photos, short videos, notes, and sharing
Only photos and short videos you explicitly select or capture are copied into SongHere. Before saving, the app removes unnecessary image metadata from photos. It validates a video's tracks, size, and duration, generates a thumbnail, and rebuilds the video container with only the picture and the single live-audio track you choose to keep, removing unnecessary container metadata such as location.
Each encounter can hold up to three media items, including at most one 10-second video. Sharing output is created only when you initiate it; exported short videos apply the same metadata filter and never add song audio.
06Storage and iCloud
Data is stored on your device and, when you are signed in and the system permits it, synced to your iCloud private database. A CloudKit private database is available only to that user by default, and the developer cannot browse those private records in CloudKit Console.
Apple provides iCloud transport, storage, account, and security under Apple's terms and privacy policy. If iCloud is unavailable, new data may remain only on the device until the system can resume syncing.
07Apple services
SongHere uses Apple-provided ShazamKit, Apple Music, MapKit, CloudKit/iCloud, App Store, and system diagnostic infrastructure. Apple may process device, account, storefront, request, diagnostic, or other information to provide these services. Apple controls that processing separately under its privacy policy and relevant service terms.
The SongHere developer does not receive raw microphone audio from the current app and does not receive or browse the contents of users' private iCloud databases.
08Developer collection and tracking
The current version:
- Requires no SongHere developer account;
- Sends no music memories, locations, photos, short videos, notes, or search history to a developer-controlled server;
- Contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDK;
- Does not use IDFA or track users across apps or websites.
Apple may provide developers with aggregate App Store sales, usage, and diagnostic information. Apple's platform and user settings control that information; it does not contain private music-map content uploaded by SongHere.
09Retention, deletion, and your controls
Data remains on your devices and, when enabled, in your private iCloud database until you delete a memory, place, photo, short video, or all data, or manage it through Apple's account and storage controls.
- Delete individual music memories or remove places, notes, photos, and short videos;
- Choose Delete All Data from Settings → Data and sync that deletion to your other devices.
Uninstalling the app removes that device's local copy but should not be treated as a substitute for deleting all iCloud data. Deleted data cannot be manually restored by the SongHere developer.
10This website and support email
This website uses no advertising, analytics tools, tracking pixels, or support form and does not intentionally set cookies for advertising or analytics. To deliver pages and protect the service, hosting and network providers may automatically process basic request information such as IP address, browser type, request time, and pages accessed.
If you email support, we receive your email address, message, and any attachment you choose to include. We use it only to understand and respond to your request, keep necessary communication records, and prevent abuse. The email provider processes messages under its own terms. Please do not send unrelated private photos, videos, or precise locations.
11Children
SongHere is not specifically directed to children and does not actively collect children's personal information through a developer-operated server.
12Changes to this policy
If features or data flows change materially, we will update this policy, its effective date, the in-app privacy notice, App Store privacy answers, and the privacy manifest. We will reassess and disclose before adding analytics, developer-operated servers, remote logging, support uploads, advertising, or another developer-accessible data flow.
